1000+ Comments on the Quran: Surah 99 -- AL-ZALZALAH (The Earthquake)

Revelation: Year unknown; Likely early Medina.

(See general comments on Surahs here: Introduction)

The quotes and comments

001 "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful". Please read the surahs from Medina, the immoral parts of the Muslim moral code, the unjust/immoral parts of sharia, and the Quran's rules for lying, thieving/looting, enslaving, raids and wars, plus the rules for treatment of girls and women - free and captured - and see if you agree. Always when there is a distance between words and corresponding demands and deeds, we personally believe in the demands and deeds. Glorious words are cheap, demands and deeds are reliable. Glorifying words and claims are too cheap for anyone to use and disuse - when you read, judge from realities, not from propaganda.

002 99/2: "And the earth throws up her burden (from within)." One of the claimed miracles in the Hadiths is about the earth who repeatedly threw some non-Muslims out of their graves during night. This tale (the Quran proves it is not true, as there are mentioned no miracles in the Quran, and real miracles had been mentioned, as Muhammad dearly needed such ones) may be inspired from this verse, which also indicates that the dead ones are thrown up from their graves, but at the Day of Doom.

003 99/4: "- - - that Day - - -". The Day of Doom.

004 99/5: "For that thy (Muhammad's/Muslims'*) Lord (Allah*) have given her (Earth) inspiration". If Allah exists and has any power, neither of which is ever proved.

005 99/6: "- - - that Day - - -". The Day of Doom.

006 99/7: "- - - good - - -". Beware that when the Quran uses words like this, it is in accordance with its own partly immoral moral code.

007 99/7-8: "- - - atom - - -". Some react to this word in the Quran, and think it is a far too modern word to fit in this book. But atom (meaning; that which is so small that it cannot be split) is an old Greek word, much older than Muhammad, and may well have been known in Arabia at his time.

But all the same it is wrong, because the Arab word used here - "dharrah" - does not mean atom, but an ant. Why does a good Muslim translator name something which is a hundred million times smaller than what the Quran mentions? - to make an even better impression than the Quran itself, and a claim that it fits modern science?

008 99/8: "- - - evil - - -". Beware that when the Quran uses words like this, it is in accordance with its own partly immoral moral code.
