1000+ Comments on the Quran: Surah 98 -- AL-BAYYINAH (The Clear Evidence)

Revelation: Year unknown

(See general comments on Surahs here: Introduction)

The quotes and comments

Before we start, we may add that one definition for "proof" or "evidence" is: "One or more proved fact(s) which can give only one conclusion". No claim or statement or "proof" about Allah or Muhammad's connection to a god satisfies such a criterion - not one single one. Not in the Quran and not anywhere else. (It is never proved that it really is Allah who is behind the claimed "proofs", and then the "proof" is invalid (a possible exception may be proofs "borrowed" from the Bible, but they in case prove Yahweh, not Allah)).

001 "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful". Please read the surahs from Medina, the immoral parts of the Muslim moral code, the unjust/immoral parts of sharia, and the Quran's rules for lying, thieving/looting, enslaving, raids and wars, plus the rules for treatment of girls and women - free and captured - and see if you agree. Always when there is a distance between words and corresponding demands and deeds, we personally believe in the demands and deeds. Glorious words are cheap, demands and deeds are reliable. Glorifying words and claims are too cheap for anyone to use and disuse - when you read, judge from realities, not from propaganda.

002 98/1a: “Those who reject (Truth (the Quran*)) - - -”. See 13/1g and 40/75 above.

003 98/1b: “Those who reject (Truth (the Quran*)) - - -”. One of Muhammad's many negative names for non-Muslims.

004 98/1c: "- - - (Truth) - - -". See f.x. 13/1g, 40/75, and 81/19a above.

005 98/1d: "- - - the People of the Book - - -". Jews, Christians, and Sabeans (it is not quite clear who the Sabeans were. Most likely they were the inhabitants of Saba/Sabah/Sheba in what is now Yemen, but there are a couple of other possibilities - the famous clear language in the Quran.

006 98/1e: "- - - the People of the Book - - -". A historical anomaly.

007 98/1f: "- - - the Book - - -". Here: The Bible. As the word "Book" sometimes is used about the Bible and sometimes about the Quran, you have to be a little careful, because sometimes it may be slightly difficult to see which of the two is meant - again the claimed clear language in the Quran.

008 98/1g: “- - - Clear Evidence - - -”. This means the Quran: See 13/1g, 40/75, and 96/11 above, and 98/1h just below.

####009 98/1h: "- - - Evidence - - -". The Quran and Islam and Muslims use words like "evidence" and "proof" very "liberally" to say the least of it. An evidence or a proof is "one or more proved facts which can give only one conclusion", but this is never the fact in the Quran when the book claims that this and this is an evidence or a proof - either the claim is built on nothing and hangs in thin air, or it is built on one or more not proved claims. (The one may be exception: Quotes borrowed from the Bible - but they in case prove Yahweh, not Allah.

010 98/1-2: (A2): “Those who rejected the (Truth), among the People of the Book (Jews and Christians, and Sabeans - as Muhammad did not know also the Zoroastrians in a way had one god and a book*) and among the Polytheists, where not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence – a messenger from Allah - - -.” But this collided with facts. Then finally Ibn Taymiyyah found another way of understanding it: “- - - they were not abandoned (by Allah’) until - - -.” Would an omniscient god use such an unclear language?

011 98/2a: "A messenger (Muhammad*) from Allah - - -". No omniscient god could use a messenger giving his followers so much wrong information. Besides: As there according to the Quran had been lots of messengers before Muhammad (124ooo or more according to Hadiths), why wait till the claimed very last one - Muhammad - with bringing clear evidence? And this is even more ironic, as Muhammad did not bring one single valid evidence for anything central in Islam at all - not one thing is proved, and not one of all the claimed "signs" and "proofs" is a logically valid proof. This claim here about "clear evidence" is as untrue here as all the other places in the Quran.

012 98/2b: "- - - messenger - - -". See 63/5a above.

013 98/3a: "- - - laws right and straight". Steal and rob whatever you can as long as you can do it in the name of Allah. Rape any not pregnant woman you capture as long as you can do it in the name of Allah. Any raped woman is to be punished severely for indecency, if she cannot produce 4 male witnesses who have actually seen the rape. These are just 3 of many peculiar rules in the Islamic moral code, in Islamic sharia laws, and in the Islamic rules for war. If these are "right and straight" then Islam is a very peculiar religion with a very peculiar god and very peculiar moral. Not to mention peculiar definitions for "right" and "straight". And this is a serious understatement.

014 98/3b: "- - - right and straight". Beware that when the Quran uses expressions like this, it is in accordance with its own partly immoral moral code.

015 98/4a: "Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence (there is some disagreement about this sentence among Muslim scholars, but generally they agree on that what is meant, is the Quran*)". Islam had better prove this claim, because it is historical facts that there were schisms within both Jews and Christians, not to mention between those groups long before Muhammad and his Quran.

016 98/4b: "- - - the People of the Book - - -". Jews, Christians and Sabeans - mainly the two first.

017 98/4c: "- - - the People of the Book - - -". A historical anomaly.

018 98/4d: “- - - Clear Evidence - - -”. This means the Quran: See 13/1g, 40/75 and 91/11 above.

019 98/4e: "- - - Evidence". See 98/1e above.
###020 98/5a: "And they (the people of the Bible - Jews, Christians, Sabeans*) have been commanded (by Muhammad*) no more than this: to worship Allah, offering Him (Allah*) sincere devotion, being true (in faith (Islam*)), to establish regular Prayer (to Allah*) - - -". We do not think these demands on believing (in Yahweh) people knowing how much was wrong in the Quran - or at least some of it - and thus knowing that this was a made up, new religion, based on a well known, but dressed up pagan god (al-Lah), need any comments.

021 98/5b: "- - - regular prayers - - -". This demand for regular prayers - 5 times a day - was so essential for Allah (he even wanted more often according to Hadiths) that it became one of the 5 "pillars" of Islam. For Yahweh such formalism was so totally without any interest, that no similar rule - not even the idea - at all is mentioned in the entire Bible: Pray when there is a reason or a need or a wish. One of the 100% proofs for that Yahweh and Allah are not the same god. Also see 23/9b above.

As for the value of prayers in Islam, also see 62/9c. And if you combine 62/9c with 67/9c - a strong one - you get something thought-provoking. (And relevant here: Muslims often are thought that a question or problem can have 2 or more true and correct solutions - Islam is forced to teach this, because if not, many of the mistakes and contradictions in the Quran become too obvious. But this ONLY is true if parallel true solutions are possible. In cases where 2 or more possible solutions are mutually excluding each other, maximum 1 of the mutually excluding ones can be true. It should be a bit thought provoking for Muslims, that just this "small" difference in theoretical thinking and teaching, was one of the reasons (there were several of course) for why Europe and the West exploded into the Technical Revolution, while the Muslim area stagnated). Two star examples are: 1) Full predestination is not possible even for an omnipotent god to combine with even the smallest piece of free will for man - the two are mutually excluding. The same for full and unchangeable predestination long time before, combined with any claimed effect of prayers - the two are mutually excluding each other.)

022 98/5c: "(Islam*) is the Religion Right and Straight". Take 98/3a+b above, and enlarge the comments to be valid for all aspects of religion and life.

023 98/6a: “Those who reject (Truth (the Quran*)) - - -.” With all that is wrong in the Quran, the book at best is partly the truth.

024 98/6b: “Those who reject (Truth (the Quran*)) - - -.” One of Muhammad's many negative names for non-Muslims.

025 98/6c: "- - - the People of the Book - - -". Jews, Christians and Sabeans - mainly the two first.

026 98/6d: "- - - (non-Muslims*) will be in Hell-Fire - - -". See 3/77b above.

027 98/6e: "- - - to dwell therein (Hell*) (for aye)." But 6/128c, 11/107b and 78/23 may indicate not quite forever. (And 11/108c that perhaps also Paradise is not quite forever.)

028 98/6f: “They (non-Muslims*) are the worst of creatures”. A fitting second last quotation from a verse? But only if the Quran is from a god, and in addition tells all the truth and only the truth.

029 98/6g: “- - - the worst of creatures”. One of Muhammad’s many (here very) negative names for non-Muslims.

030 98/7a: "Those who have faith and do righteous deeds - they are the best of creatures". Shall we repeat some of the atrocities, inhumanities, dishonesties, etc. the Quran's - and thus Islam's - moral code, ethical cod, sharia law, etc. permits or even sometimes demands. If such people are the best, we hope never to meet a slightly bad one.

031 98/7b: "Those who have faith - - -". Muslims.

032 98/7c: "- - - righteous deeds - - -". Beware that when the Quran uses expressions like this, it is in accordance with its own partly immoral moral code.

033 98/8a: "Their (Muslims') reward is with Allah - - -". If Allah exists, if he in addition has power - white or black (in the last case the reward meeting Muslims in the perhaps next life, will differ quite a bit from what they expect), and if the Quran tells the full truth and only the truth.

034 98/8b: "- - - Gardens of Eternity - - -". The Quran's and Islam's paradise - see 10/9f above.

035 98/8c: "- - - Gardens of Eternity, between which rivers flow - - -". Once more the desert dwellers dream of a paradise - and once more an Arabism.

036 98/8d: "- - - Eternity - - -". See 98/6e above and 98/8e just below.

037 98/8e: "- - - dwell therein (Paradise*) for ever". But 11/108c may indicate not quite forever. This is a difficult point for Muslims, and they explain that it must be because the ones there will be transferred to an even better place. But this is not said in the Quran.

038 98/8f: "- - - such as fear their Lord (Allah*) - - -". Muslims.

039 98/8g: "- - - Lord and Cherisher". See 96/1a above.
